The following is a copy of a hand written letter we received from Taylor after his first day at the MTC.

Querido Mommy,

So basically, as stressful and jam-packed as my first day has been, it has been so much fun!  My compaƱero is Elder Jackson from Cedar City, Utah.  He is way cool!  I was the first in my group to get unpacked and my bed all set!  Thanks for teaching me, madre.  :)  So I basically have already learned way more Spanish than I ever did in high school.  I can already pray and say way more than I ever could from those 3 years of high school Spanish.

My Spanish District at the MTC has 2 other Elders going to Fresno, 1 going to Salt Lake South, 2 going to Argentina, 1 going to St. Louis, and 1 more going to Argentina I think.  I leave the MTC for Fresno on July 27th!!  So...8 weeks at the MTC.  I get out a week early because I am in the intermediate Spanish group.  I've already seen so many people I know.  Like 6 from my BYU-I Mission prep class and several from Jordan High School.  And I had dinner tonight with Kristian Larsen (parent note - this is a young man who was in our Ward when we lived in Williamsburg, VA. a number of years ago).  He leaves the MTC on Monday.

My P-Days are on Thursdays.  So that's when i can first email a letter I believe.  So starting next Thursday.  I might be able to do a quick email letter on Saturday.  Will see.  And Mom, you can type this up on the computer and count it as my first email to you if you want.

I saw Sam Christian (parent note - this is a young man from Baltimore that Taylor met through Baltimore Raven player Todd Heap, who resides in our Ward in the off-season) at dinner tonight too.  He's in beginning Spanish group, so he is not in my District.  And to write letters, dearelder.com works wayyyyyyyy better than regular letters through the mail for the MTC.

But anyways, it's now lights out.

Take care.  Remember - Life isn't about perfection, it's about preparation.

Elder Gygi
