More Doubts = Stronger Conversion

Missionary Meals! Thanks Sister R.
(Let's all assume that bottle is full of fresh spring water )
We've had another great week here in Los Banos as usual.  I was in Merced for a two-day exchange while Elder Luna was at leadership training. It was pretty fun, except for the fact we were on bikes all day and it was raining. But rainy days are fun to ride bikes in.

We've been teaching a less active named Stephanie. She moved here from San Jose just a little bit ago and couldn't find the church so she requested a missionary visit. So after we had been teaching her for a bit, we started to teach her boyfriend named Jorge. They both work for the National Guard, which is pretty cool.  But we were teaching him, and he said that he doesn't have much of a background at all in religion. So we were trying to establish a foundation in who Christ was and the restoration and all that fun stuff. He had some amazing questions for us that were very reasonable. But we are working on showing the importance of baptism. We set a date for February 11th, and he said he would do it if he got his answer. He has a few doubts though. I have learned that the more doubts one has, the more converted they will be in the future. Doubting things is just natural.  He doesn't know if he can do something that he can't keep following through on.  So we helped him realize that the leap of faith is hard, but he will receive the Holy Ghost and know exactly what he needs to do.

We are also teaching a 17-year-old girl named Sara.  She is amazing and so full of faith.  It looks like she is progressing towards baptism for the 3rd of February.  She came to church on Sunday, which we were super excited about.  We are just working on finding a good member to fellowship with her.

Missionary work is so much fun.  I can't believe I started my mission 8 months ago. It seriously feels like you dropped me off yesterday. I'm always dead tired and just want a nap sometimes, but you know what? I love it! There is no other place I’d rather be.  I only have 2 years to work hard and I’m gonna give myself up completely to the Lord.

I know this work is eternal. I leave my family for a little bit, so others can be with theirs for eternity.  There are missionaries in the spirit world doing the exact same thing. I know that God the Father and the Son appeared to Joseph Smith in that Sacred Grove, and because of that I’m here on a mission. And that's that. Boom.

Take care this week and stay safe!

Love,

Elder Gygi
