A Fun, Successful Week

Mark 16:15

We had a really fun week. It was successful too! We were able to finish the week with 10 baptismal dates! I was super super excited about that. Hopefully the month of June will be full of the results of our hard work in this month. One thing that I have learned in the mission, is the success always comes a month after you really get working.

We had a really great lesson this past week with J. He is the one who has those macaw birds I’m holding in a picture. He is from Puerto Rico, which is pretty cool. He isn't too old, but his health is not very good and he feels old. During every single lesson we had in the past with him those birds yell the entire time. But at the end of one of the lessons he told us that he knew we were the ones who have the authority. He asked us for a blessing because he was going to be having surgery in a couple of days. While I was giving the blessing the birds actually were completely silent the WHOLE TIME. It was seriously so crazy. I didn't even realize it until after the blessing when J. pointed it out. He was crying at the end of the blessing saying, "I really feel the power of God come as you bless me. I know that I can be healed through my faith." Super cool. We came back for another lesson and talked about authority and baptism. He felt the spirit and said he couldn't doubt that it is true. The only thing is that he said, "I do want to be baptized. But I physically cannot endure an hour long baptismal service, let alone step into the water." When he said, that I knew exactly what to say. The words just came right to me. I told him, "We can promise you, as representatives of Jesus Christ that you will be able to endure the service as long as you have real intent to do it because you know it is true." And he said, "Okay, I will do it."

We were also privileged to have a great lesson with a less-active member named C., her fiancé and two kids. Basically the fiancé and her told us they were getting married so we offered to do it at the church and have the bishop do it. So they agreed. The fiancé had never heard the message of the gospel, so we obviously shared it with him. And he loved the restoration. They all understood it. He asked if he could get baptized the same day as the marriage, as well and with the two kids of hers, J. and T. They are both pretty cool. So we were super excited that we were led to find these people. We were just on bikes and we remembered that a less active lived over there, so we went and knocked on the door. Happy day.

So yeah, good fun, week right? I just love being a missionary. I know that the Lord is looking after me. And that we can seriously perform miracles through God's literal restored power, the priesthood. I know that the gospel has been restored and that we are blessed enough to have that knowledge that we know we are in the exact same church that Jesus Christ personally established

And that's that.

Take care!
