Goat Meat

It's been a pretty fun week!

Too cute to eat
The food is amazing. I've learned that if you are full, you need to leave a little bit of food on your plate so they don't slop another fat plate on top. They never stop eating here. Yesterday we had this goat meat that was killed right in the backyard of a member. It was for a baptism party for an 11 year old boy that just got baptized. I never got to teach him though. His family is all non-member, but he chose to do the right thing.

Thanks for the package! I loved it all!

So, Jared at the big Red Mtn. hmmmmm, just don't look people directly in the eye, hahaha just kidding. Tell Brother Farlee I said hi. I had him right when we moved there, as well as right at the end of senior year. Tell him thanks for all he's taught me. He was a great teacher. I also had Ms. Lawrence for art. She probably won't remember me though. School all starts here this Thursday. So lots of people will start getting really busy.

The language is getting a bit frustrating. I can never tell if people understand what I say. And it's really hard to understand what others say to me. But it's all good. I know that I’ll be blessed with the gift of tongues as I keep on working hard at it. It's coming along slowly though. It's really only the super fast speakers which are hard to understand.

I had a great miracle last Thursday. And I mean great great.

We drove to one of our appointments of a potential investigator. Someone was sitting on the lawn chair outside. We asked him if Juan was home but he wasn't. So we were about to just walk away, but the spirit told me not to leave and ask how this man was doing. So I did. He said he wasn't doing very good, which kind of through me off guard. Most people don't care and say yeah I’m fine and they make us leave. But we kept talking with him. I told him we are representatives of Jesus Christ here to help people come unto Christ and be cleansed from all sin. I normally don't say that to start off talking, but I felt prompted to. His eyes widened up and he started to cry a bit. I thought he wasn't interested at all. But he then said that he wants to change so bad. So we sat down.

We got some seats and started to have a lesson on the lawn there. We were talking about how we can be cleansed from sin and feel closer to God. He told us that only an hour before we arrived that he was on his knees praying to God and asking for help in some way. We asked if he thought we were an answer to that prayer. He said, "yes, I know that God sent you here".

We had such a powerful lesson with him about repentance and baptism. I committed him to be baptized on the 28th of August. This will be one of the fastest baptisms ever if everything stays good! I'm so excited to keep teaching him!

It has strengthened my testimony so much that there are people ready for our message right now. It is my job as a representative of Jesus Christ to listen to the spirit and find my friends who I promised before this life that I would come find. I know that the atonement is real, and through this wonderful restored gospel, we can help people be cleansed from sin and come unto Christ. I know that Satan is trying so hard on our investigators. He doesn't want them to be baptized because he knows how powerful we are in the church and how powerful the Holy Ghost is. I love being here on my mission. I wouldn't want to be any other place. I know that Jesus Christ lives.

Have a great week!

Love,

Elder Gygi
