Work + Fun = Success!

It's actually been a pretty good week here in Los Banos. We've been having a lot of fun with the work here.
We were able to go to the Church Vineyard in Madera and do the pruning. Now that stuff is hard. I have major respect for those who work in the fields for years at a time.
This past week we were wondering who was the closest to baptism, and couldn't figure it out. We were praying that all of the investigators we have would feel of the importance of baptism and have the desire to be baptized.  We were just trying to "prioritize" the current teaching pool and sort them according to who was progressing.

So we go to teach this girl named Christina, and talk to her about baptism. Christina has been one of those "eternal investigators" that no missionary can get to progress. So she has been to church a bunch before. And we are using the scriptures and talking about the ordinance of baptism. And she just completely changes out of the middle of nowhere. And she gets all sincere and everything.
Before, she would just say, "yeah yeah, I'll get baptized when I get my answer and know its right". She would never have any urgency to it. And she got all spiritual and we committed her to be baptized on Saturday, and she got baptized on the 14th, and confirmed along with Norma on the 15th!
It's crazy how people can change so fast. And I think I realized why. We had been teaching her for a while with contention in the companionship. But Elder Luna and I both realized that that didn't matter. The investigators are what's important. So we fixed the problems and noticed that when we fixed them, the spirit would work on the investigators. And as a result of "forgetting myself" and "thinking of the investigators", we have been able to have a baptism two weeks in a row. It was truly a miracle that I saw.
I've really learned the importance of "forgetting yourself" while I’ve been on my mission. Literally, the only important thing right now, are the investigators and helping them come to baptism. And that's that. I hope you can apply that to something. And find out the most important thing.

I know this church is true and that God loves all his children the exact same. I know that the work is real and pushing forth on the earth today.

Have a great week!

Love,

Elder Gygi
