Week 47

Hey Family!

We had a super fun week here in FRESNO. I love Fresno. It's the best place in the whole mission. We only had to drive like ten minutes to get to our mission conference. It was nice. We had an amazing mission conference with Elder Christoffersen. The assistants got up and told us if he opened it up to questions, not to ask any ridiculous questions like, “Have you seen God?” or “Do you have Laban's sword in your briefcase?” haha. Well it just so happens that the first thing Elder Christoffersen said was, “Well, I’d like to open this up to any questions you may have.” And this senior missionary got up and said, "What do you do as an apostle that we don't know about?” Everyone was just shaking their heads and looking down as he said that. But Elder Christoffersen said, "We'll if I told you, I’d have to shoot you." Hahaha

But anyways it was a great conference. He gave us apostolic promises that the Lord approves of the work we are doing and that we will continually have His Spirit to convert with us everyday. Now I can check apostle visit #2 off my list :)

So IDK if this is bad but two of our investigators have died in the past week. Super sad. One of them was a really old lady that passed away due to age. But the other...well....

So we talk to this guy on the street. His name is Antonio, and he's way way solid. He tells us he doesn't drink or smoke and that he wants us to come teach him. So we came over and he was like I feel sick and my chest hurts. So he went to the doctor that night. Then, we call him and he says he had another doctor appointment and we should come by the following day.

So we came by and saw a lady out front. And we ask her if Antonio is here. And she just has this super confused look on her face and says, "What are you talking about? He passed away last night. Didn't you know that?"

So she tells us to go inside quickly and talk to his wife. So we go in and there were about 20 people inside that all just start thanking us for something we did. And we asked them "Why are you thanking us?" And they said "Well, aren't you the guys who gave him CPR on the street?" and we said, “No that wasn't us.” So they said, “Well, two guys with white shirts and ties got off their bikes and gave him CPR.”

So long story short, we call the only other missionaries in the area and I asked Elder Jensen if he gave anyone CPR on Saturday. And he said, “Why yes I did.” So yeah, Antonio went walking down the street and just collapsed. The missionaries then rode up like 30 seconds later and saw everyone just standing around. They got off and gave him CPR. The family was super grateful because that kept him alive for one extra day.

After we found all this out, we went and taught the whole family using Alma 40. And they just felt super peaceful and were grateful we were there. The other Elders are teaching this whole family now because they're English speaking investigators.

We and the other Elders were put in the right place at the right time by the hands of the Lord. I'm super grateful that I can be guided by the Spirit to where I need to be placed.
Elder Sewell and Elder Gygi

So yeah, that was my week.

I hope all goes well with y'all (as Nyal puts it) this week!

Love,

Elder Gygi
