| Missionaries always look so happy! |
It's been a good week. Transfers are tomorrow. I was on an exchange on Saturday with Elder Harper in Patterson. During studies in the morning we ended up getting a call from President Gelwix. He asked to speak with me. He thanked me for my service and released me from being a zone leader. He then called me to something new. It's called a "leadership trainer". I am one of the three leadership trainers in the mission. It basically means I go with a missionary who is a bit newer to teach him how to be a leader in his future. My companion will be the district leader, and I train him on how to be the district leader. I'm so excited! It seriously sounds like it will be the best calling ever!
So that means I’m finally leaving Ceres though. I'm bummed about that. I had a lot of fun with Elder Ewing, too. I seriously have loved this area and the people so much. I gave a farewell talk in sacrament meeting on Sunday and us 4 missionaries sang a special musical number, too. (The private voice lessons Taylor & Sean took paid off, although they hated them.Thank you Sister Andrus!) But I will be down in the Hanford stake on Wednesday. My new area is the Selma 2/Reedley area. It’s a Spanish area over by the Sequoias. And my new companion is Elder Schofield. He's a great missionary. He used to be over in the Fresno zone a little bit ago. I'm really excited to serve with him.
As for the work...Elder Ewing, myself, and Brother Perez from the branch in Ceres all had the opportunity to baptize someone this past weekend. She was a large lady and she only had one leg. So she needed help in the font. So we helped her. Her name is Estella. She was taught about 6 months ago but then I don't know what happen. But she came back to church and said she was ready this time. She was super prepared.
I'm really excited for my new assignment and for my new area. I truly know that God knows us perfectly, and He has a unique plan for each one of us. I know that this new assignment and area is really a call from God. I know that God lives and is personally aware of everything we go through. I love my mission more than anything else. It's the best thing that has ever happened to me.
Take care!
Love,
Elder Gygi
