A Story From Sanger

5th Grade
This is the latest e-mail from Taylor. We thought it would be concise due to the Christmas phone call we were excited to have with him on Christmas day, however this was even less than expected.

Hey Family!

Hope you all have a great Christmas this year! Sorry, I don't have much time, but I'm excited to talk to you all tomorrow at 4!

Love you all!

-Elder Gygi

We had an inspiring and motivating phone call with Taylor on Christmas day. His voice was confident and enthusiastic. We could hear the maturity that comes from serving in positions that require leadership and the joy that every missionary feels when one is a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. We asked Taylor to tell us a memorable story and he started laughing and shared something that he had neglected to write home about before. The story follows here:

Elder Gygi and Elder Haddock were visiting people door-to-door at a building with a screen door and porch area. In the porch area was a pit-bull. Elder Gygi, with his love for animals, opened the screen door to pat the dog on the head. The dog responded by licking his hand. (Yes, I agree, this was his first grievous mistake.) They walked into the porch area to knock on the door, (grievous mistake #2). The dog then grabbed Taylor’s leg and was chewing on his leg but not hard, somewhat play-like. But somewhat play-like quickly changed from play-like chewing to angry chewing. Taylor suddenly began running around trying to kick the dog off his leg. Elder Haddock was laughing the entire time and even took out his camera to take pictures of Taylor and the pit-bull, (grievous mistake #3). Taylor was finally able to get the dog free of his leg, then ran and quickly jumped a fence. At this time the dog then focused on Elder Haddock. When the dog lunged at Elder Haddock, he punched the top of its head causing the dog to bite through the tip of its tongue and to fall to the ground. The dog then lunged again grabbing Elder Haddock’s shirt getting him covered in the blood that was coming from the dog’s injury. He also escaped by jumping the fence. They quickly went to a member’s home to get help cleaning the blood from his shirt. When they arrived at the member’s home, the member screamed thinking that Elder Haddock had been shot! Neither of the Elders had any puncture bites on them, just some bite marks that bruised giving evidence of proof to their unbelievable story.

Suffice to say, Sean, Jared, Mark and I were very blessed in that McDonald's parking lot in Bountiful, Utah listening to Taylor over the bluetooth of the car. Taylor's happiness of his decision to devote 2 years of his young life to leading the Spanish-speaking people of the California Fresno area to know their Savior was palpable.

Mucho amor para todos!!!
