A Dead Car Battery Teaches Faith

Hey Family!

So the reason that I’m writing today is because today is our p-day and we went to the temple this morning. Sorry, forgot to tell you.

At the temple this morning, one of my missionary friends was there with some converts from the beginning of his mission. They were getting sealed. Super sweet. I love going to the temple. It just is a nice break from the outside world.

We had a pretty good week this week. We were able to see some pretty cool miracles. We were with our team up and his 13-year-old son out teaching people on Tuesday. And I was thinking, “What can we do to build this 13-year-old's faith to serve a mission.” One of our duties as missionaries is to inspire youth to serve missions.

So we get out of teaching a lesson in this trailer park and get in our truck and the battery is dead. So there weren't a ton of people around so we decided to say a prayer. And we asked the youth if he had faith that it would all work out. And he said he did. So we prayed, but the battery didn't start. So he was like "Aw man, we don't have enough faith". So we told him that maybe we do, but the Lord just has a different plan. We taught him that faith requires action. So we got out and began to push.

We were pushing and a guy came out walking and we asked if he had a car and could help. Long story short, he helped us out, the car started and then we talked to him about the gospel. And we asked if we could come back.

SO… the lesson here is that sometimes we jump to a conclusion too fast that we don’t have enough faith, or that we did something wrong. But if we have faith in God's perfect plan and we listen to the spirit he can use us as tools in His hands. He can use a dead car battery to get missionaries to talk to one of His children about the gospel, and thus strengthening the faith of a youth. That was the cool lesson that was re-taught to my heart this week.

I know that God's plan is "one eternal round" and that we are all here for the exact same purpose. I know that literally "no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing" and that we are literally in "the last days" as well. And that's that.
