Referrals...

Madera Welfare Farm
Hey everyone!

It's been a pretty fun week here. It started off last Tuesday. We went over to see a referral that we had from someone. She had a visitor there that seemed pretty interested. The visitor had a big bandage on her foot and was limping. We talked to her about her religion and some other stuff. Then she unwrapped this bandage on her foot. It was a huge open wound. It looked like a huge burn all over her foot and ankle. And she told us that it was an infection eating away at the skin and that it's been like that for over a year.

So we introduced what a blessing was and what the priesthood was and asked if she would like a blessing. She accepted and we gave her a blessing that she could be healed as she has the faith and the desire to find the truth.

There's a missionary video called the "John Tanner Story" and it totally reminded me of that. So next time we go we are going to show her that video and try to commit her for baptism.

Then on Thursday I went on an exchange with Elder Kahuhu. This is his first transfer and he just flew in last Wednesday. But three days before this transfer he and his companion (Elder Swayt! We played lacrosse together at Jordan High! He says he remembers Sean) went to a Chinese restaurant and started talking to a girl named Mia. And she said that they could come back another day. So they got her address and stuff.

And the day of the exchange, we went to go contact her again. So we go to the address and we couldn't find it. But we did find a house with the close number on it. And we were about to go walk away, but I felt really strong that I should go knock. And a young Hmong lady answers. And I ask for Mia and she says okay hold on just a second.

And Elder Kahuhu was like "What are you doing this isn't even the right house?”  But I thought it was. Well anyways, Mia comes to the door and it wasn't even the same person they contacted three days ago, but I didn't know that. So I ask, “So did you used to meet with the missionaries?" And she said “Yeah I did! And I loved meeting with them almost every day!” And I asked what happened. She said that her dad is a leader in their Hmong church and said as long as she was living there she couldn't meet with the missionaries. So we gave her our number and told her to call if she found a time or place to meet.

So it was a miracle that we went to the wrong house and found a person named Mia as well who used to meet with the missionaries and wants to be baptized. So who knows what impact we had there. But maybe she'll eventually move out and be baptized. She had the strongest desire for it than I have seen in anyone.

I know that I am guided to go to specific places. I know that sometimes I don't see the results of my efforts, but those results will affect them and be seen eventually.

Have a great week!

Love,

Elder Gygi
