Simple Lessons Change Lives

Hey Family!

We had a pretty good week here in Ceres. The zone conference with Elder Golden is actually tomorrow morning. I'm super excited.

We had a cool experience this past week with one of our recent converts. She was baptized only two weeks ago, and we were having a lesson with her the other day. She quoted something from the Book of Mormon, and I was just like, "Wait. have you read the whole book of Mormon?" And she said, "Yes I have, I read it the first night you gave it to me."

She read the whole Book of Mormon in one night! How crazy is that! Staying up the whole night just to read it. She said she just got so into the story and loved it. She has a rock solid testimony now and is giving us referrals and everything.

We were also asked to go give a blessing to a nonmember who was a bit sick a couple days ago. We get there and talk a little about the priesthood and what a blessing is. Then we gave her the blessing and talked a little bit after. After the blessing, she said she can feel an undescribable warmth in her body and she liked it. She said that it was a sign from God.

We told her it was the Holy Ghost and it was telling her that we have the authority to heal. We taught about the restoration and she said she'd be baptized if she finds out what we're teaching is true.

I love just simple lessons like that, when the spirit is super strong, and each time I teach it, my own testimony grows. I love it. I've seen the restoration DVD with investigators like 100 times, and I love how it's the same spirit and feeling that is there each time.

I also went on an exchange with Elder Coy this past week in Hughson. Elder Coy is from Gilbert, AZ and his dad worked in the same office as you did, dad in Phoenix until 2010 when they moved to Alaska. Small world.

The Lord's Prayer
But we had a great exchange and I learned a ton from him. We met a guy who was from Kenya! And I was talking to him for a while saying "Jambo Bwana habari gani" and stuff like that. I decided that I want to be fluent in Kiswahili. Coolest. Language. Ever. But we invited him to church and stuff. He thought it was crazy when I said, "Hey I lived in Africa too!"

Thanks for all your love and support! I'll try to write some letters today, but I still have tonsssss of stuff to do. Including cut my own hair. So wish me luck. Hahaha

Love,

Elder Gygi
